New in 2.0 · “Your plan”

Tell it your goal. Get your plan.

Most trackers hand you an empty diary and a default 2,000 calories. ForgeLift asks a few questions the first time you open it, then does the maths: what you burn, what to eat, how long it'll take, and a workout split built around the muscles you actually want to train. Every calculation runs on your phone.

1
About you

Date of birth, sex, height and current weight — the inputs any honest calorie maths needs. Kilograms or pounds, your call.

2
How active you are

Desk job through to on your feet all day, so the number reflects your real week rather than a formula's guess.

3
Your maintenance

Before any goal, ForgeLift shows what it takes just to hold your weight. That's the baseline everything else moves from.

4
Goal & pace

Lose, maintain or gain — with a target weight and a pace from relaxed to aggressive. The daily target and the finish date update as you slide it.

5
What you want to train

Chest, back, shoulders, arms, legs & glutes, core — pick any, or none for a balanced plan. Then say how many days a week you can train.

Ready to log

Targets saved and a full split sitting on the Workout tab, with real exercises, sets and rep ranges. No blank screen on day one.

Worked example · 25 y male · 180 cm · 85 kg → 75 kg · steady pace
2,875maintenance kcal
2,330daily target
~20weeks to goal
Macro targets, derived
PROTEIN 153 G CARBS 283 G FATS 65 G FIBRE 33 G

Protein scales with bodyweight, fat takes a quarter of your calories, carbs fill the rest, fibre follows your intake. Edit any of them later.

Starter split · chest & arms focus · 4 days
UPPER BODY A LOWER BODY A UPPER BODY B LOWER BODY B

Two sessions on, one off, two on, two off — and because chest and arms were the focus, those days carry the extra work.

Numbers are a starting point, never a rule. Change your goal, pace or any single target in Settings and ForgeLift recalculates on the spot. Nothing here is sent anywhere — there's no server to send it to.

Already using ForgeLift? Updating changes nothing you've built. Your schedule, history, foods and targets are exactly as you left them, and the setup never interrupts you. Want the new plan anyway? It's under Settings → Learn → Re-run setup, and you can cancel out of it.

What it does

One app for the whole training day

Four tabs, no clutter: train, eat, watch it add up, and keep everything yours.

Train

A split that follows your real week

  • Swap any day — future days re-plan around your pick, past days never change
  • Set logging in seconds, with last session shown in every field
  • PRs detected automatically — weight, reps, strength and volume
  • Progression hints with a concrete next load, plus a plate calculator
  • A How to button on every exercise — form videos for that exact move
  • Rest timer on your lock screen and Dynamic Island
Eat

Macros without the ceremony

  • Calorie ring plus protein, carbs, fats and fibre targets — set for you, editable any time
  • Search or tap quick foods — amounts rescale macros automatically
  • Custom foods and recipes: log your usual breakfast in one tap
  • Own foods are typed in straight off the label — per 100 g or ml, the way the packet prints it
  • Your most-logged foods rise to the top, with your usual portion remembered
  • Water tracking, one glass at a time
Progress

The long game, visible

  • Workout streaks, weight trend and BMI
  • Apple Health: steps, energy and scale weigh-ins flow in automatically
  • Finished sessions are saved back to Health as strength training
  • Every past session browsable, down to the set
Yours

On your phone, in your iCloud

  • Home-screen widget with today's workout, streak and macros
  • Siri: log weight, log water, start a rest timer
  • iCloud sync across devices and automatic backups
  • Full JSON and CSV export — it's your data, take it anywhere

What's new in 2.0

Shipped 25 July 2026 — the biggest update since launch, plus every fix that had been queued behind it. Free, as always, with no in-app purchases.

New

“Your plan” — personalised calories, macros and a starter split

Open ForgeLift for the first time and it asks about you, your activity and your goal, then sets your daily calorie target, your protein/carbs/fat/fibre numbers, and generates a workout split around the muscles you want to prioritise — with an honest estimate of how long your goal will take. See how it works →

New

A “How to” button on every exercise

Not sure how a movement should look? Every exercise card now jumps straight to form videos for that exact lift — no searching, no leaving your set half-logged.

Fixed

Custom food macros now match the label

Your own foods are entered exactly as the packet prints them — per 100 g or 100 ml — so a 45 kcal drink logs as 45 kcal, not 4,500. Foods already saved with inflated numbers repair themselves on update, and so do the diary days you logged from them, totals included. Editing a built-in food works the same way.

Fixed

Number entry that doesn't fight you

Comma decimals now work, so 62,5 is understood the same as 62.5 — a real problem if your keyboard or region uses commas. Bodyweight sets (dips, pull-ups, push-ups) save properly instead of being dropped, and leaving a field blank no longer makes the app guess a value for you.

Better

Food logging that learns your habits

The foods you log most float to the top of the list, and ForgeLift remembers the portion you usually take for each one — so your daily staples are a tap and a confirm.

Unchanged

Everything you'd already built

Updating from an earlier version leaves your schedule, templates, history, custom foods and targets exactly as they were, and the new setup never interrupts you — it's for first-time users. If you'd like to run it anyway, it lives in Settings → Learn → Re-run setup. Still no account, no ads and no servers.

Requires iPhone on iOS 26 or later, or Android 8 or later. Update or download on the App Store → Get it on Google Play →

Why ForgeLift

The coaching most apps rent you — free, and yours

Most gym trackers lock planning, history and insight behind a monthly subscription, and keep your data on their servers. ForgeLift keeps the tracker free and the data on your phone.

  Subscription trackers ForgeLift
Price Typically $5–10 / month Free — no in-app purchases
Personalised plan & macro targets Usually the paid tier Included — worked out on your phone
Your data lives On the company's servers On your iPhone & your iCloud
Account Sign-up required None — open and start
Offline Usually needs a connection Fully offline
Built for iPhone Often a cross-platform wrapper Native: Live Activities, widgets, Siri, Health
Ads & tracking Analytics baked in Zero — “Data Not Collected”

Category comparison, not a knock on anyone — plenty of good apps charge a subscription. ForgeLift just makes a different trade: free, private, and native.

Made in Melbourne

One developer. No investors. No data business.

ForgeLift is built and maintained by one person in Melbourne, Australia — someone who lifts, and got tired of gym apps that want an account, a subscription and a copy of your data just to count sets. There's no company behind it monetising your workouts.

The app is free, the logic runs entirely on your phone, and the “business model” is refreshingly boring: there isn't one that involves selling you or your data. The tracker is free and staying free — and as of 2.0 that includes the planning most apps put behind a subscription: your calorie and macro targets, and a workout split built for your goal. If ForgeLift ever charges, it'll be for something genuinely extra on top, never for what's already here, and never for your data.

Privacy

We can't see your data. That's the point.

ForgeLift runs no servers. Everything you log stays on your iPhone and — if you turn on sync or backups — in your personal iCloud, where only your Apple Account can reach it.
